2008-2009
Orchestra
Directors: A "tentative calendar" for UIL Music Events
in Region 2 for 2008-2009 is being constructed so dates/sites can be
"ratified" by the directors at the Spring Meeting in Bridgeport on
Saturday - May 17th.
The following information is for your consideration and
response.
The dates suggested are not
compatible with the dates used for 2007-2008. The MS choral contests that
occurred on March 6th & 7th this year had to be "tentatively"
scheduled for March 11 & 12 due to TAKS Test on March 3rd. That resulted
in having to look at different dates for the orchestra division.
If sufficient entries don't occur for the west zone, the
WZ high schools may be required to participate at the EZ and a
"makeup" contest be coordinated for the WZ middle schools (similar
to the "makeup contest" used this year). An alternative would
be - ENTRY FEE increase for the WZ entries so that the expenses for a
"short day" would be paid regardless of the number of entries.
Average COST for ONE DAY of a UIL contest is $3000 per day (not including
awards and sr music expense).
